Cones on the mind...

We are watching Hurricane Ike come closer to South Florida...for a while, we were in the "cone" of error, meaning "we don't know exactly where it's going but we are pretty confident it will be somewhere in this cone". As of 11am, as you see in the pic, we are in the clear. We will wait and see! However, now I have cones on the mind...

I think this sounds really good right now...my favorite flavor is strawberry and I really love strawbery cheesecake ice cream...although lately, Jeanine and I have been eating sherbert...I love rainbow!!

This picture reminds me of Christmas and walking through the woods up north. It makes me look forward to the holidays...how many shopping days until Christmas? People have asked me if our new church will do Christmas big like we do here at Oasis in South Florida...for sure, in the beginning, the answer is no. If we grow and get property one day...who knows?

Speaking of Christmas and up north, I miss SNOW! In fact, these are the closest I have got to snow in the last few years. I am making it a goal to take the boys to see snow this winter...would love to get Zach on a pair of skis... I think he would do pretty good and maybe pick it up pretty quickly...I used to see little kids all the time and they would be zipping all around, no poles and no fear...can't believe that could be Zach soon! By the way, I like "rainbow" (mixture of all the flavas) sno cones as well!

Is there anything worse, when you're driving, and you see this and realize your lane is ending? I can't stand driving in construction...especially on I-95!

Never saw this movie...never heard the soundtrack...hopefully never will do either!

Book Recommendations

Highly recommend this book on grace and how much the blood of Christ can cleanse us and redeem us as humans...I love the fact that it is the story of real people who come to Vegas to build their lives and find what they are missing and while they are there, they strike it rich...they find Jesus. It will force you to look at people* in a different way.

*the kind of people where we find ourselves thinking, "oh, that person would never become a Christ-follower"...think again!

My life the last few weeks...

Due to the Olympics and the conventions, I find myself in front of the tv alot...and now with football season beginning and new shows (finally) being written and coming out, I see the trend continuing...and yet, that is a problem when it comes to exercise, family, relationship with God, spending extra time working on ideas...important stuff like that!

So, I came across this post by Ben Arment and I felt compelled to include it here...because I couldn't agree more!

Oh television.

with hundreds of channels
to be surfed
and the joy of mindlessness.

Where does the time go?

Weekend Update

-enjoyed going to the Canes game this past Thursday...(Thanks Alex for going in spite of your back pain and for taking care of the tix!). It was a little different not being in the Orange Bowl but now we have instant replay in HD! Woohoo! They handily beat the community college they were playing...really young team this year but we are rebuilding (or some say "reloading"!)...hope to be competitive this week in Gainesville...yikes! Hey, in NCAA football, you never know...but (I hate saying this) those Gators looked good in week 1.

-spoke at all five, live worship services this weekend @ Oasis Pembroke Pines (1 Sat pm/ 3 Sun am/ 1 Sun pm)...wow, my voice was tired! Taught on the value of mission as we concluded a three week series on the values of Oasis Church (Here are the notes, if you are interested Download ). Really enjoyed being at all the services...saw some familiar faces and good friends that I have not seen in months!

-missed being in NoMi...I heard Jimmy and Kevin did good...looking forward to being there this coming weekend!

-even though it was busy with church, still managed to have drafts number 2 and 3 this weekend for fantasy football... all about priorities and an understanding wife... thanks Jeanine! I can't wait for the NFL to kick-off on Thursday!

-Enjoyed a relaxing Labor Day...was the first evening home with the family as I was out the previous 4 nights...had a cookout at my parents in Hollywood and actually flew a kite... I have not done that in years! Jeanine and I make quite the kite flying team!

-Had a long day of meetings today (Tuesdays are usually these kind of days)...but wanted to update the site before bedtime...which is way overdue...good nite...
